Noises Off is a comedy that revolves around mistaken identities, precise staging, physical gags, sexual innuendos, and sexual liaisons, usually within a closed, domestic setting. Noises Off is structured as a play within a play, and the action follows a theater company as it rehearses and performs a play entitled Nothing On. Both titles are theater jokes that are developed as the play’s action unfolds. “Noises off” is the term used by actors to refer to accidental noise heard by the audience from off stage. “Nothing on” literally means that nothing is being shown on stage, as well as being a pun for a state of undress. Frayn explores the themes of The Repetition and Doubling Involved in Farce, The Relationship Between Personal and Professional Lives of Actors, and Theater Reflecting Life’s Own Absurdities and Complexities.

Venue Information
To make your theater going experience more pleasant, we encourage you to arrive early and to please bear in mind the following:
- Friday and Saturday performances at the Golden Bough Playhouse begin at 7:30 PM, and Sunday Matinee performances begin at 2:00 PM, with seating beginning thirty minutes prior to show time. Parking is limited to street parking, so arrive early!
- Concessions will be on sale.
- Service animals are welcome at the venue.
- Parking is recommended on Monte Verde, Casanova, and 8th and 9th.
- There are no refunds once tickets are purchased. Tickets may be exchanged for alternate performances (subject to availability) by contacting the Box Office, at least 24 hours prior to the original performance date. With the exception of FlexPAC holders, ticket exchanges will incur a per ticket fee of $3.00.
