THE BLUE ROOM By David Hare Directed by Guest Artistic Director Kenneth Kelleher Mature audiences. Nudity and strong language.
In a series of inter-connected scenes characters hop from one bedroom to the next in a play that explores the power struggle and sexual dynamics between characters of different backgrounds. This play pulls no punches as it examines sexual politics with utter frankness. "The Blue Room" is a modern adaptation of Arthur Schnitzler's "La Ronde." David Hare, one of England's most celebrated living playwrights, has re-set these circular scenes of love and betrayal in the present day. With just two actors playing all the parts, he has created a fascinating landscape of dream and longing that is as eternal as Schnitzler's original series of sketches that were written over a century ago - and were so controversial the Vienna Police ended the run on its first night!
